Description

This photo is of Strome's Castle in Strome's Ferry (or across the Loch from it ... could never quite figure that out :shrug).

It is just down the road from Lochcarron, Scotland; a town in the North West Highlands not far from the Isle of Skye.

We spent a wonderful week in a very beautiful little cottage called Tigh na Creaga. If you every have a chance to spend some time in this area this is an incredible location and a lovely home; this place was perfect ... and more!

I have a LOT of images of Scotland ... this is just the beginning. The will be slow in coming though as my camera was not working so they need a lot of "work" done on them ... 3 cheers for Camera Raw!!!

Please, absolutely no reproduction, copying or duplication of photos/images, in part or in whole, without my permission!

My images are not Free Domain... just note me and ask; we can go from there :D Thanks

It's Strome Castle, North Strome, on the shore of Loch Carron. Stromeferry (or South Strome) is across the 'Strome Narrows' is the south side of Loch Carron. The main road north used to be to Stromeferry, then a car ferry across the narrows, the main road continued as the road still does into Lochcarron village. The ferry finished in 1970 and the main road was built around Loch Carron via Attadale and Strathcarron. However, a rockfall on 22 December 2011 closed that road west of the avalanche shelter, it is due to reopen on 23rd April 2012. Consequently a six car ferry has been running across the narrows again, with a passenger ferry for the school pupils. In recent weeks the A890 road has been running on the railway, between trains. So there's a lot been happening since you were here ! If you look on my Lochcarron village site [link] you will see all the daily updates and a search in the archives all the pictures too.
Regards,
Alex (in Lochcarron)
